Buddy Paraiso Gabi ng Lagim (Night of Horror)

I bet no artist in this "Tambayan" ever experience to live in a huge house, with no water and electricity, starts to call it a day around 5 p.m. and at every 3:30 a.m., could hear a whimpering "ghost" in the living room... Well, that's what exactly what's being happening since me and my folks started to live in my old aunt's ancestral home in Novaliches QC...We may have no rent, sky rocketting electric or water bill to pay for but this situation lasted around 2 months and just thinking about not… Continue

Fer Lorica Coloring in Gimp

I am trying this software these last couple of days. I find the software capable of doing any style of coloring (comic book, anime styled or cel-shaded and smudged approach)...no limit to everyone's style! I think the current available release (v.2.5.4) is very much comparable to the capability of Photoshop, with only one missing as far as I know...the CMYK color profiling. Using this software for coloring is just fine as long the image will only be viewed on screen and not destined for commerc… Continue

Buddy Paraiso Farewell Caloocan City

My life in Caloocan city, was best described as a “Journey” riddled with bumpy rides of missed opportunities, of false lights at the end of proverbial tunnels, of walking through malls without money and getting frustrated, of noisy neighbors blaring their ugly metal rock music (or organized noise)and those stupid Pinoy rap noise with total disregard for other people’s rights to sleep. But to be fair, there were some points in this city which I sure to miss; like the peaceful stroll down 10th av… Continue

Jon Break Out Comics #5 at the M3 Con

There will be an indie comics bazaar at the Mangaholix Manga Mania (M3) Animangaming Convention 2008. Subway Prodcutions was one of the group that was fortunate enough to be given a booth there. We will be releasing the 5th issue of Break Out Comics. We've got four stories at that issue: a new story from Chris Nalda and Boggie Buenaventura; next installment of "Torrent" but this time the art is done by Butch Bantog; a new story from Adonis de Leon; and a one-shot from Ryan Francisco. The event w… Continue

Buddy Paraiso A struggling comic book writer/artist testimony and my love affair with the 3D digital art.

I’ve entered the comics’ realm about five years ago…five years of aspirations, humility, discouragements, frustrations, insults from other so-called comic book artists, of dead ends and false “light at the end of the tunnel stuff.”

These five years of struggle leads me to some inescapable conclusion: There is no such thing as a “kind and generous” modern comic book artist here in the Philippines.

Majority of these S.O.B’s are egoist who dwell in another world, backed up

Buddy Paraiso Messages in Bottles

The year 2007 passes by, but it held no true promise particularly for me; for one thing, my arrangement with this Sterling publication was a dud...It affected my long time dream of publishing my graphic novel and aside from this, the digital comics that I’ve been laboring like a slave was put on hold. Politics inside Sterling publication was the major cause of this screw up and the only thing I’ve derived from this were three MMK comics’ computer enhancements. The fee’s not that much, but I admi… Continue
